Criteria

PURPOSE:
To reward academic excellence, service and the need of a direct descendant of an East Nashville High Alumni or of a graduate of East Nashville Magnet School.

AWARDS:
Scholarship awards will be made directly to the college/university where the student is enrolled. The student will be responsible for returning this money if he/she does not complete the school year for which the award is made. Awards are for one year only.

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Applicant must be a direct descendant or his/her legal guardian must have graduated from East Nashville High School and be a dues paying member in good standing of the East Nashville High Alumni Association or applicant must be a graduating senior of East Nashville Magnet School. 
2. The student shall have exemplified good citizenship in the community and school life experience during the student's high school tenure. 
3. The student shall indicate evidence of financial need to the committee. 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. A legibly written or typewritten application. 
2. A copy of the applicant’s high school transcript. 
3. A record of ACT or SAT test scores and rank in class. 
4. Signatures of the applicant, his/her parent or guardian, and the school principal. 
5. One letter of recommendation from the community. 
6. One letter of recommendation from the school.
7.  Include a 4 by 6 inch casual senior picture

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

1. All applications must be post marked on or before February 29, 2024.
2. Applications should be returned to:

3. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications, which will be screened to determine the finalists. 
4. The Committee will interview the finalists, in person if possible, otherwise by telephone. 
5. The selection of scholarship recipients will be made by the entire Scholarship Committee, and all applicants will be notified of Committee action by mail.
